Happy 2010!!!!!

I want to thank each of you for sharing my look at the world through 'squirrel eyes'. May you and your families have a wonderful New Year.

Happy New Year

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called "Opportunity" and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

Seasons of Yesterday - Watery/Outdoor Wednesday

I was trying to decide what to post this week and my first thought was to show you our snow from December 2008. The first photo is our front driveway and the second was taken from the patio show part of the backyard. There is about 15 inches on the ground with higher drifts. Then I thought that since it's snowing in many places right now, including here, maybe you would prefer........... see something a little warmer. These two photos are from this past Fall and show one of our local lakes. It had been drained but still had some water and beautiful views.

Santa's Coming - Ruby Tuesday

Many of my blogging friends have been participating in Ruby Tuesday for quite awhile now. I've never had any photos that really fit with the theme until now. I was looking at some I took last week and saw this wreath so here we are, my first time with Ruby Tuesday.

Angel and Epaulets - Mellow Yellow Monday

Two of my Christmas decorations. The little angel is an ornament that I have owned for years, like some others I have shown you she is showing signs of age. It's hard to see in the photo but she has a broken wing. The Nutcracker? I'm not sure where he came from but he has been around for awhile also.

Even though this is the last Monday before Christmas try to get your mellow on with a little yellow. Visit Mellow Yellow Monday.

Press Play, you know you want to.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!

Octopus Toys? - Weekend Reflections

This is a continuation of the post below showing one of our local toys stores, Inland Octopus. I wanted to give you a closer look in the window.

See the white house in the window? Which side of the glass is it on? Are you sure?

A window from a shop just outside of town.

Winter's Touch - Watery/Outdoor Wednesday

First came the snow, not a lot but enough to give everything a layer of white.

The snow stopped falling but soon after the rain began. But the temperatures were still low and the rain was of the freezing variety.

Yesterday morning everything was encased in a coating of ice.

Every leaf and twig had tiny icicles.

The sedums and ..........

......... the last of the rose buds were not safe from Winter's icy touch.

For more wonderful watery photos visit Watery Wednesday. And don't forget to stop by Outdoor Wednesday.

Music in the Park - Mellow Yellow Monday

This gazebo in our largest city park was built in 1910 at a cost of $1,250. Many of the trees around it were planted about the same time. The gazebo is still used for concerts.

Mellow out your Monday with a little Yellow. Be sure to visit Mellow Yellow Monday.

Winter Joy - Today's Flowers

A few weeks ago I posted photos of my Autumn Joy sedums showing them in the Summer and Fall. Now the snow has come and what is left of my lovely plants is covered in white.

Snow blossoms? I think they are still beautiful and bring a little Winter Joy. They will be back next year stronger and larger than before.

I saw this plant in the parking lot of one of our grocery stores. The red berries are eye catching anytime but really stand out in the snow.

I think this might be a Rose Glow Japanese Barberry.
