It was about 95 degrees (F) at the time I took this photo. This little shady area seemed like a good place to take a break during my walk in our downtown area.
beautiful photos of ordianry things. just what I like the most. I can see the car in the window reflection. i like the colors of the bike handles. i can feel the shade and the sun in this one.
Beautiful composition indeed, I like a lot those bikes. You were smart to take this picture in the shadow, wow so hot Summer there. Here the weather is great, not so hot these days, but I'm enjoying my balcony and the sun. purrs and love Luna - We love Luna and mommy Léia
SO---you are getting our heat out there, too, Judy???? Yipes!!!!!! I'm sorry... Our trip was wonderful ---and some of the reasons were because of the MILD weather. It was fabulous... BUT---now that we are home, it's hotter than hot here again... Yuk!

What's That?
I don't know but . . .
did you see that?
When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don't state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to
look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.
-Lewis Carroll

Grew up in a small Georgia town with a desire to see some of the places I had read about and many I had not. I moved to Alaska and lived there for about ten years. My jobs took me to many parts of the state including Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island and many more. I have also lived in California, Oregon and now Washington state.
Let this be the story of the journey so far.
The past is a nice place to visit, but I don't want to live there.
The past is a fun place to visit, but today is where I am now.
The past is a interesting place to visit, But tomorrow will bring new memories.

It Couldn't Be Done
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that; At least no one ever has done it;" But he took off his coat and he took off his hat And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure, There are thousands to point out to you one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you’ll do it.

My Fairy
My fairy is called Tangle Saturnshimmer
She is a trouble maker.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen when the first flowers begin to blossom.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate pale pink wings like a cicada.
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

What a perfect place to take a break! I too, find a shade when walking during the summer season, and drink lotsa water!
That would be the place I'd stop too! Very nice city shot! Thanks for linking up!
I'm doing a lot of shade hopping right now. HOT!
A great shot and the shade is just where I like to be on a hot day. A x
Good composition....and the perfect spot to take a quick break.
Found your blog via Sandra. I too love squirrels and enjoyed your posts. Love the Sunflower image.
Did you sit on that bench and take a break? That building looks just like many we have in this neighborhood. It must be a popular style.
The shade is such a blessing on a hot humid day, and good for you in taking a walk. We all need to.
Thanks for the share!
Hopefully it will be getting a lot cooler real soon, Judy. Great shot!
Those bikes are real cool.
Its always good to click from a dark area into the light.
It does indeed look like a nice break from the hot sun! I like the looks of that nearest bicycle!!! :)
