Let this coming year be better than all the others. Vow to do some of the things you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time. Call up a forgotten friend. Drop an old grudge, and replace it with some pleasant memories. Vow not to make a promise you don't think you can keep.
Walk tall, and smile more. You'll look ten years younger. Don't be afraid to say, 'I love you'. Say it again. They are the sweetest words in the world. Ann Landers
After our first snow fall a few weeks ago I was amazed to find my Strawflowers still looking fresh and beautiful. Soon the temperatures fell to below zero and the little blooms wilted and faded. But I know this tough little plant will bloom again come spring. Yellow is mellow and will brighten any Monday, visit Mellow Yellow Monday for more.
This has been a wonderful year because of friends like of you. The blogging universe is filled with some of the nicest folks I have ever met. Each and everyone of you are very special to me, I truly appreciate your visits and your friendship.
Wishing for each of you a safe and Happy Holiday and a very Merry Christmas.
I will be taking a few days off from blogging. Mostly for the holiday but also I need to do some work on my computer. It has gotten so slow and I am having a lot of trouble leaving comments on many of your blogs. A little maintenance should solve all of these problems.
The water around here is more of the solid to flaky variety these days. We had a brief look at the sun yesterday before the ice fog rolled back in and darkened the skies.
A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night, the stars overhead are Christmas tree lights. The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray, It's Christmas for cowboys, wide-open plains.
Oooooooo Merry Christmas Santa Christmas comes this time each year Oooooooo oooooooo
Well, way up North where the air gets cold There's a tale about Christmas that you've all been told And a real famous cat all dressed up in red And he spends the whole year workin' out on his sled.
It's the little Saint Nick little Saint Nick It's the little Saint Nick little Saint Nick
Just a little bobsled, we call it ol' Saint Nick But she'll walk a toboggan with a four speed stick She's ol' candy apple red with a ski for a wheel And when Santa hits the gas, man, just watch her peel.
And just for fun I am including a Coke commercial from a few year back, I've always thought this one was so sweet.
I was standing under this beautiful Ginkgo tree when I took these photos in October. For more watery, outdoor photos visit Watery Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday.
When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don't state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to
look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.
-Lewis Carroll

Grew up in a small Georgia town with a desire to see some of the places I had read about and many I had not. I moved to Alaska and lived there for about ten years. My jobs took me to many parts of the state including Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island and many more. I have also lived in California, Oregon and now Washington state.
Let this be the story of the journey so far.
The past is a nice place to visit, but I don't want to live there.
The past is a fun place to visit, but today is where I am now.
The past is a interesting place to visit, But tomorrow will bring new memories.

It Couldn't Be Done
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that; At least no one ever has done it;" But he took off his coat and he took off his hat And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure, There are thousands to point out to you one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you’ll do it.

My Fairy
My fairy is called Tangle Saturnshimmer
She is a trouble maker.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen when the first flowers begin to blossom.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate pale pink wings like a cicada.
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.
