My ducky friends and I are excited that the weather will soon warm up and the trees will bloom like they did in the photo above which was taken last year.
We are excited because we have seen the daffodils and crocus smiling at us, a promise of the beautiful things to come.
I have been having Internet connection problems since last weekend, hopefully our cable company has it all fixed. I will be catching up with everyone this weekend.
The theme for this month's Brenda Photo Challenge is Before and After. The idea is to take a photo and change it some way. Since I don't have Photo Shop I made a simple change with my camera's editing program.
The original photo in color.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, by the way, if you'd really like to know, he went that way. Alice: Who did? Cheshire Cat: The White Rabbit. Alice: He did? Cheshire Cat: He did what? Alice: Went that way. Cheshire Cat: Who did? Alice: The White Rabbit. Cheshire Cat: What rabbit? Alice: But didn't you just say - I mean - Oh, dear. Cheshire Cat: Can you stand on your head? Alice: Oh! Alice in Wonderland (1951)
And the black and white version which I used for a new blog header.
Ag taisteal dom amach tríd chnoic Ghleann Domhain, 's an Mhucais ar mo chúl Ní miste domh 'rá le brón 's le crá, ghur fhreasach a shíl mise súil Go 'Meiriceá siar, a bhí mo thriall, i bhfad thar an fharraige mhór D'fhag mé slán ar feadh seal ag Dún na nGall, 's ag Gleanntáin Ghlas' Ghaoth Dobhair.
Travelling through Glendowan's Hills, and Muckish behind me I don't mind saying with sorrow and grief, that tears fell from my eyes Westward to America was my journey, far across the wide sea I said farewell for a while to Donegal, and the little green glens of Gaoth Dobhair
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to All!
I know on St. Paddy's day we are all Irish but in doing genealogy on my family I have discovered several branches of my tree go back to Ireland and Scotland. So I decided to go with something a little more Irish than the usual assortment of songs.
I especially like the line "Westward to America was my journey, far across the wide sea" as many of my ancestors crossed the 'wide sea' to come to the New World in the 1600 and 1700's. The photos in this video are beautiful.
Go n-éirí an bóthar leat Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís, Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.
May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
These are some photos from my archives, I was playing around with natural lighting and color on color. The flower in the foreground is a Straw Flower and a pink geranium is seen behind.
When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don't state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to
look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.
-Lewis Carroll

Grew up in a small Georgia town with a desire to see some of the places I had read about and many I had not. I moved to Alaska and lived there for about ten years. My jobs took me to many parts of the state including Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island and many more. I have also lived in California, Oregon and now Washington state.
Let this be the story of the journey so far.
The past is a nice place to visit, but I don't want to live there.
The past is a fun place to visit, but today is where I am now.
The past is a interesting place to visit, But tomorrow will bring new memories.

It Couldn't Be Done
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that; At least no one ever has done it;" But he took off his coat and he took off his hat And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure, There are thousands to point out to you one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you’ll do it.

My Fairy
My fairy is called Tangle Saturnshimmer
She is a trouble maker.
She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.
She is only seen when the first flowers begin to blossom.
She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate pale pink wings like a cicada.
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.
