Little Smiles

My ducky friends and I are excited that the weather will soon warm up and the trees will bloom like they did in the photo above which was taken last year.

We are excited because we have seen the daffodils and crocus smiling at us, a promise of the beautiful things to come.

Please visit ThisWay/ThursWay and Photo Time for more. And because yellow makes Monday's better visit Mellow Yellow Monday.

I have been having Internet connection problems since last weekend, hopefully our cable company has it all fixed. I will be catching up with everyone this weekend.

This Way and a Different Way

The theme for this month's Brenda Photo Challenge is Before and After. The idea is to take a photo and change it some way. Since I don't have Photo Shop I made a simple change with my camera's editing program.

The original photo in color.

Cheshire Cat: Oh, by the way, if you'd really like to know, he went that way.
Alice: Who did?
Cheshire Cat: The White Rabbit.
Alice: He did?
Cheshire Cat: He did what?
Alice: Went that way.
Cheshire Cat: Who did?
Alice: The White Rabbit.
Cheshire Cat: What rabbit?
Alice: But didn't you just say - I mean - Oh, dear.
Cheshire Cat: Can you stand on your head?
Alice: Oh!

Alice in Wonderland (1951)

And the black and white version which I used for a new blog header.

Be sure to take a few minutes and visit the other participants in The Brenda Photo Challenge. While you are visiting take a look at Quote It Saturday, an easy and fun meme! See Camera Critters also.

Gleanntáin Ghlas' Ghaoth Dobhair

Ag taisteal dom amach tríd chnoic Ghleann Domhain, 's an Mhucais ar mo chúl
Ní miste domh 'rá le brón 's le crá, ghur fhreasach a shíl mise súil
Go 'Meiriceá siar, a bhí mo thriall, i bhfad thar an fharraige mhór
D'fhag mé slán ar feadh seal ag Dún na nGall,
's ag Gleanntáin Ghlas' Ghaoth Dobhair.

Travelling through Glendowan's Hills, and Muckish behind me
I don't mind saying with sorrow and grief, that tears fell from my eyes
Westward to America was my journey, far across the wide sea
I said farewell for a while to Donegal, and the little green glens of Gaoth Dobhair

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to All!

I know on St. Paddy's day we are all Irish but in doing genealogy on my family I have discovered several branches of my tree go back to Ireland and Scotland. So I decided to go with something a little more Irish than the usual assortment of songs.

I especially like the line "Westward to America was my journey, far across the wide sea" as many of my ancestors crossed the 'wide sea' to come to the New World in the 1600 and 1700's. The photos in this video are beautiful.

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat
Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl
Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh
Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna
Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís,
Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

The theme for this week's Photo Time is green. For this example of green I had to go to my archives.

But this little touch of green is in my yard right now, it won't be long before the lilacs are in bloom.

And this time of the year we just have to have a little Irish green.

Sometimes there's a part of me
Has to turn from here and go

Running like a child from these warm stars
Down the Seven Bridges Road

There are stars in the Southern sky
And if ever you decide
You should go
There is a taste of time sweetened honey
Down the Seven Bridges Road

This is my all time favorite Eagles song.

Thursday is almost here and that means it's time for all sorts of fun things. Be sure to check out the other participants at Hootin' Anni's Thursday Theme Song and Freda's ThisWay/ThursWay.

The Conversation

"What are you doing?"

"Looking for IT."

"Oh. Any signs of IT."

"Not yet."

"Maybe tomorrow."

Even our crows are anxious for spring to arrive.

Wishing for Colors

These are some photos from my archives, I was playing around with natural lighting and color on color. The flower in the foreground is a Straw Flower and a pink geranium is seen behind.

The theme for this week's Photo Time is Artistic View. Also be sure to visit Macro Flowers Saturday and Today's Flowers.
I am running way behind on visits but this has been a very busy week, I will be over to your blog soon.
