Seven Daffodils

I may not have mansion, I haven't any land
Not even a paper dollar to crinkle in my hands

But I can show you morning on a thousand hills

And kiss you and give you seven daffodils

Oh seven golden daffodils all shining in the sun
To light our way to evening when our day is done

Whenever I see daffodils I think of this song. I have sung it with friends around many campfires in many places. The harmony on this song is amazing. A friend of mine back in the late seventies had this song played at her wedding and carried a bouquet of daffodils.

Sorry I haven't been around much this week. We are gearing up for a large spay/neuter event this weekend and things are getting very hectic. I will catch up with everyone as soon as possible when things calm down.

Not to worry Mommy, we kitties will keep an eye on the blog for you.
(Mom here, if you look closely in Little Boy's left ear you will see the green tattoo we give to some of the cats that come through our program. True feral cats in colonies are ear tipped.)

The Snow Cats

On Thursday morning us kitties woke up and opened our eyes and we couldn't believe what we saw. It was that white stuff that we like to play in. Yeah!

We played ball and wrestled with each other. We had lots of fun.

When the ball got buried in the white stuff Fuzzi went to look for it. We told her that we weren't playing with it where she was looking but she said the white stuff wasn't so deep over here and kept searching.

After a while we got tired and cold and decided we didn't want any more of the white stuff.

We are wishing it was JUNE again so we can take naps in the warm sun.

Meows,
Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew

PS, Remington, we would send you some but it melted away before we could get it in the boxes.

Spring Song

The birds are singing
‘Cause Spring is springing
The bees are out to pollinate

The flowers are blooming
The grass needs grooming
The pouring rain helps to irrigate

Plants and trees are growing
Producing shoots and leaves
Pollen’s in the air
And it makes me sneeze

The ants are crawling
The geese are calling
It’s time for animals to
Stretch their legs

I was looking for an entirely different song on You Tube when I ran across this one. I thought it was so cute and the music and lyrics are lots of fun. Hope you like it too.

Canvasback Ducks

At our local aviary this pretty Canvasback female takes a sip of water while waiting for her fellow to arrive.

Aren't they a handsome couple?

Cat's Eye

Hey Friends, Sissi Cat here.
I have been looking through mommy's photo archives and I noticed something. Our hooman mommy seems to be obsessed with our eyes. She says this photo of my eye reminds her of the old cat's eye marbles. I have no idea what a marble is but I hope it's nothing too silly.

Here's another photo of my eyes. In this one mommy says the sun was setting and my eyes and furs were picking up some of the color. I was thinking I wish I had some sunglasses like she wears to keep the sun out of my eyes. MOL!

But sometimes we see mommy coming and pretend to be asleep so she can't see our eyes. Actually most of the time we really are asleep so we don't have to pretend too much.

Irish Calling

Kitty cats, Kitty cats

Together standing tall

Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer our Mommy's call

Our sincerest apologies to all those of Irish decent, no disrespect by us kitties was intended. Meow!

Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call

Hearts of steel
And heads unbowing
Vowing never to be broken
We will fight, until
We can fight no more
From the four proud provinces of Ireland

"Ireland's Call" is a song written in 1995 by Phil Coulter for the Irish Rugby Football Union. It has since also been adopted by the Irish Hockey, Cricket, Rugby League and A1GP teams. But you don't have to be a sports fan to appreciate the power of this song. If there is the slightest bit of Irish blood in your veins the music will stir it up.

My maternal ancestors migrated to Northern Ireland from Scotland long ago. I have found them in County Antrim where they resided before coming to the US in the seventeen hundreds. County Antrim (named after its former county town, Antrim) is one of six counties that form Northern Ireland.

A Lullaby in the Sun

Saturday was very sunny and warm so I made a quick stop at one of the local park to check in on the ducks and other critters.

But on this lovely afternoon most of them were enjoying the sun and taking naps.

I tried to be very quiet and not wake anyone. (Red-crested Pochard)

Sorry fella!

People sometimes count sheep to fall asleep. I wonder what ducks count. Maybe they prefer lullabies.

Since St Patrick's Day is coming let's get into the mood with an Irish Lullaby.

All The News and More

Hi Friends, Sissi Cat here with the latest, most up-to-date news report you will hear today.

It is my job to patrol our yard and keep an eye out for squirrels, birdies and anything else that dares to approach. You will not believe what I saw today.

Do you see those birds in the big tree? Mommy says those are robins. She says robins are a sign of spring. Spring? I asked her if that was a new toy. She said no, it means the weather is going to get warmer and there will be more sunshine and flowers. I really like sunshine. It is nice to take naps in the sun.

Those robins were way up high in the tree. But guess what dared to come into MY yard?

I saw this big bird and I have to admit it was a little scary. It was big. Mama says it is a Magpie and it is very shy so I was in no danger.

We interrupt this news cast to bring you a special announcement. Tomorrow, March 11th, is a very special day for a certain Diva we know. In fact she is our favorite Diva.
Madi is having a Birthday Bash tomorrow at her place. Be sure to go by for a visit HERE and help her celebrate.

A Tall Tree and a Mystery

The theme for this week's Photo Time is HIGH. Our favorite high thing is the top branches of trees.

And speaking of trees.

Last week when I walked by the window something caught my eye. Do you see it? What could it be? Maybe some sort of strange bird.

Perhaps a kind of mammal.

I knew if I went outside it would probably jump out of the tree. Do you know what this mysterious creature might be?

Mama, you are so silly!

You knew it was me all along.

Does your human do silly stuff like that too?

Hugs,
Fuzzi
