News of the Week

Hi Friends! Sissi Cat (well my ears) here to bring you up to date on this week's happenings. Our mama was really busy last week so once again we raided her photo archives (and her camera) for photos.

Mama saw this sign at the Farmers' Market a couple of weeks ago. We figure this must be the head cat of the farm. Or maybe he was the mouser of the month! MOL!

The other day while mama was at the shelter for the spay/neuter event she saw this cute little calico kitten.

She was playing on the front counter and greeting everyone as they came in.

Don't worry about this little girl. She belongs to one of the shelter employees. She has a great furever home!

While going through mama's photo archives we found this UNUSUAL photo. We asked mama to tell us about this photo and how she did it. All she said was this was the Bond, James Bond of the plant world.

Can you guess how our mama made this photo?

Help

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.

But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me get my paws back on the ground.
Won't you please, please help me.

Help (me get my brother off my head)
Won't you please, please help me.

Help!

Hi All, our mama is doing a spay/neuter clinic so she let us put together this post. She is really trying to keep caught up with everyone but this is a very busy (kittens galore) season.

Meow,
The Kitty Krew

You have got to see this video. It get the message across in a very funny way.

A Little Bit of This and That

Hey Hoomans! Big Boy here to give you the latest news of the week. Earlier this week our mama and dad left us. You heard me right, they left us here all by ourselves. (You would think by now they know how dangerous that can be, MOL!)

They went to a campground to meet some friends. Mama said it had been raining and everything was really green.

She said there were lots of flowers but some of them were shy.

While they were gone we went through mama's photo archives. We found this photo of daddy's father when he was a little boy. Isn't he cute. Our daddy looks a lot like his father.

We also found one of mama's photos from Alaska. Mama says this photo was made with a film camera (yep, our mama is old) and then scanned. It was taken back in the eighties so the photo was not in the best condition. She says one of these days she is going to try and clean the photos up a little.

And we found this photo ............. wait a minute! This is not the photo we found. Bandit, what's this photo of you doing here?

Well Big Boy, while you weren't looking I put a photo of me on the page. I thought this post needed a girl's touch.....or photo. So there!

That's all for today folks. Spooky signing out!

Meow,
Bandit signing out too!

Sissi Cat

Did you ever get the feeling you were being watched?

You want to turn around but you are just a tiny bit afraid of what you might see.

Don't look! Don't look! But I have to look! No, don't look!

Yep, it's Mama and that camera thingy.

I knew I shouldn't have looked.

What About Bob?

Hmm, you must be the hoomans all these cats here are talking about.
Very pleased to meet you, my name is Bob. At least that's what the hooman who lives in this house calls me but that's okay since I like that name.

I think she calls me Bob because I have a bobbed tail. I don't think it's all that special since it's the tail I was born with.

But enough of that. I'm a stray cat that likes it in this yard and the yard that belongs to the lady on the other side of the fence. Between these two yards I have everything I need like food, water and a good place to sleep. If only I didn't have to put up with this Kitty Krew. All they want to do is play and have a good time. Me, I'm just trying to make a living.

That's all I wanted to say today. Maybe I'll visit this blog thing again sometime.

Meow,
Bob

Sissi Cat here. Bob is kind of a nice guy so we don't give him any hassles but we do wish he would play with us. Maybe after he takes his "trip" he will play more. Mommy told me not to tell him but it won't be long until she takes him with her to one of the spay/neuter events. Mama thinks he may already be neutered but she needs to make sure. He also needs his vaccinations.

Sorry Bob, but mama says if you are going to stay here you have to take a trip though this door.

Raise Your Paws

A friend of mine refers to it as the Kitten-Tsunami. It's the time of the year when there are kittens everywhere. Some were born as early as late February and will soon be old enough (a female cat can get pregnant as early as four to five months) to have kittens of their own. It's the time of the year when you start seeing ads in the local papers for 'free kittens'. It's the time of the year when the local shelters have lots of cute kittens up for adoption.

June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat month. If you or someone you know is looking for a sweet, loving pet please check at your local shelter. If you can't adopt right now maybe you can find it in your heart to make a donation to your local shelter to help them cover the costs of all these little ones. Most shelters are always looking for foster homes for both cats and dogs.

My regular readers know I work with a group that offers spay/neuters for stray and feral cats. We also do low cost services for folks who cannot afford regular vet services for their own cats. Our next event is this Wednesday and many of the cats we have coming are young kittens and their moms. We will make sure mama cat does not have to go through this again and cat enjoy her life. The kittens that are old enough will be spayed/neutered so they can have healthy lives without kittens of their own. This is such a busy time of the year we will be holding events every two weeks for awhile.

We, Cindi Lou and The Kitty Krew, raise our paws in support of this message!

Because of our spay/neuter event this I am going to be very busy Tuesday through Thursday. I will be dropping by to see everyone as I have time, otherwise I will see you after the event.

Feathers

We ducks like to play and party until we have feathers flying everywhere. I have been trying to catch a feather on my nose for the longest time and I finally did it!

Did anyone notice that I caught a feather on my nose?

I've got a feather on my nosy-wosy!

Where is everybody? Come on, I want to show you the feather on my nose.

Ah shucks, maybe I'll check the other pond. Somebody has got to see the feather on my nose.

Silly duck! We thinks our Mama has some really strange pictures in her photo files.

The theme for this week's Photo Time is "Vast".
Off in the distance you can see the Blue Mountains of Southeastern Washington. In this part of WA state it's easy to see for miles and miles.

That's all for now!

Lazy Day

 Blue sky, sunshine

What a day to take a walk in the park
Ice cream, daydream
Till the sky becomes a blanket of stars
What a day for a picnic

Daisies and lots of red balloons

And what a day for holdin' hands
And bein' with you

Lazy day, lazy day,
Lazy day for you and me

Kitties for Pitties

When our mommy first heard about Corbin's Blogville Pitty Post Day she thought she didn't know any pitties. Then we reminded her (we have to remind our mama about things all the time, what would she do without us?) about all those sweet Pitties at the Blue Mountain Humane Society.

This is Ace, a terrier/pit bull mix, he  is only seven months old.Because Ace is so young he is in a special school to learn commands like sit & stay and how to walk on a leash. When he graduates he will be up for adoption at the humane society.

Ace has lots of friends at the shelter like Tory, Sasha, Rocco and Petals. Click on the links to visit all of these dogs. Our mommy has met lots of the Pitties at the shelter and they are all great dogs that just want a forever home where they can be loved.

We think it is very sad that some people think Pit Bulls like Corbin and Ace are dangerous dogs. Any dog can be bad if the owners are not nice people or maybe they don't know how to train their dog. We know Pitties have very big hearts with lots of love to give.

We, Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew, want to go on record and say that we think Pitties rule!

Reminder! Today is also Hug Your Cat Day!

Temminck's Tragopan

Hi All! The Spookster here to make today's report. We have heard that the park critters are getting a little upset that they haven't had any blog time lately.

And while we don't want to make Mr. Peacock mad (cause he is really big) we have another park resident we want to tell you about today.

This fellow is called Temminck's Tragopan. That's a funny name isn't it? Sorry TT, I'm not making fun of your name. Really I'm not!

 Isn't he a handsome fellow?

Temminck's Tragopan is a medium-sized pheasant in the genus Tragopan. The male is a stocky bird with red/orange plumage covered with white spots. The female is a white-spotted brown bird with blue circular eye skin. The Temminck's Tragopan is found in the forests of South Asia from northeast India, northwest Vietnam, Tibet and nothern provinces of China. In is a common bird in its large habitat range but to us here in the US it is very UNIQUE.

While our mommy does not like to see birds in cages this fellow and his mate have a huge enclosure about 10' x 12'. There is also a closet size room where they can hide if they want to get away from people or the weather. The surrounding shrubs also give them places to hide or roost.  All of the residents at the local aviary have lots and lots of space.

And while you are cruising Blogger today be sure to stop by and visit Corbin. Monday is Corbin's third birthday and he wants to celebrate in a big way. You are invited to share a post about your favorite Pit Bull, or any Pit Bull you know. We all know Pitties are wonderful dogs so lets tell the blog universe how much we love them.

Click HERE to visit Corbin and learn more.

That's all for today.

Meow,
Spooky (aka The Spookster)
