All The Mews

Hello Friends, Miss Sissi Cat here to bring you the news of the week.
The news is that our mama has been really busy with those itty-bitty kittens we are fostering. She thought we were a handful until these two came to live here. She's still trying to get some good photos of them but so far most every photo is a blur ....... they are fast. We'll give you an update on them soon.

So while mama was busy we went through her photo files and picked out some photos to show you.

We found a dragonfly getting ready to lift off.

And a cute little ladybug.

The theme for Freda's Photo Time this week is Statue. Mommy says this is one of her favorite statues in our town. I guess that's all the photos we have for today.

Wait a minute! What would a post about critters be without your friendly neighborhood squirrel? Besides who said you cats get to do all the posts?

Bandit: "Well excuse us Mr. Squirrel. It's too hot to play chase so go away and stop bothering us".

House Guests?

Hey Friends, Big Boy here to bring you the news of the week. And you aren't going to believe some of the news I have to tell you.

But before we get started I want to show you this apple. Ms. Freda's theme for this week's Photo Time is fruit. We think fruit is weird, it doesn't smell like kibble or tuna or mouse or anything good to eat so we're not sure what it is used for.


Now for the news. Our Mama had a spay/neuter event this week and even though we missed her we knew what she was doing was very important to all the kitties out there. But it's what she brought home from the event that really confused us. It seems there were two little girl kitties that were too little to be spayed at this event. Someone needed to foster them for a month until the next event. By that time they both should be big enough.

But you can imagine our surprise when it was Mama that came home with these two little Rug Cats! They are like little whirlwinds of energy. In fact ......... hey, what are you two doing here?

Move over Big Boy.

Hi there peoples and critters! My name is Aphrodite! The lady at the hoomane society wanted to names me Medusa but this Squirrel lady talked her into calling me Aphrodite instead. Squirrel lady said looking at me would not turn someone to stone but it might melt their heart. Whatever all that means. Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of love and beauty and I loves everybody but I'm a little shy at first. I'm about seven weeks old and I like to play with toy mice.

My turn, my turn. Heys! I'm Athena. The Squirrel lady weighed me and I'm 1.1 pounds. That means I'm a big girl, well almost. I like to run and explore everything I see. I like to jump and climb too, it's fun. Whee!
As I was climbing the Squirrel lady's jeans she said I was going to need my own climbing tree/scratching post. I wonder what that is?

Oh, what's that over there?

SQ here: These two, especially Athena, are little bundles of energy. They will be here for a month and then go to the shelter to be adopted. So far they haven't met the other cats. We want to wait awhile and let these two get adjusted before making introductions. Also getting photos of these little wiggle worms was not easy, I will try to get some better photos of them a little later.

Work Those Paws

Hey everybody! Spooky here to tell you what's been going on this week. First it's been really hot, we've been sleeping a lot but we also have been working out.

We've been practicing for the Blogville Olympics. What do you mean you haven't heard about it? Cats and dogs all over the Blog Universe are taking part in the events. Click HERE to learn all about it.

Hey! Sissi Cat here. I've been working out. Here you see me doing my neck exercises.

Spooky! Look! I'm doing chin-ups! What do you mean this isn't a chin up? My chin it turned UP towards the sky.......that's a chin-UP!

We have been doing all kinds of workouts but sometimes we move so fast Mama can't catch all the action with her camera thingy. She said this was a Blooper!

We have been working our paws to the pad. But we think we are ready for the Olympics.
Yeah!

While Mama was waiting for us to wake up from our naps she followed some little bees around. See the bokeh in this shot, it's for Miss Freda's Photo Time.

A Little Gravel in my Travel

Most everyone knows I'm not much of a country music fan but once in awhile I find a song that I really like. This one got me with the line "Put a little gravel in my travel". It describes the kind of drives my hubby and I really enjoy. It also reminds me of another couple who enjoy the same kind of scenery, what do you think Betsy and George?

Golden Bright

Hi Friends, Spooky here. Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude by not looking at you. It's just the sun feels so good on the back of my head I don't want to move. After all that wet stuff falling out of the sky last month the sun is very nice.

Anyhow, I have some pictures to show you. We were looking at mama's photos the other day and found this really pretty birdie.

The Golden Pheasant is native to forests in mountainous areas of western China.

This adult is a yellow color mutant and does not have the red color of the Chinese Golden Pheasants. Mutations in colors are common in these birds especially the ones in zoos or aviaries.

Aren't those Bright golden feathers just beautiful?

Speaking of bright and golden this sun feels so good. I think I'll take a nap now.

Cool Change

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear water

There's lots of those friendly people (and creatures)
They're showing me ways to go

For all my friends who are sweltering in the summer heat I offer this little cool break. Please check out the video, it is filled with beautiful, refreshing images. Grab something cool to drink and kick back and relax for a few minutes with The Little River Band. I will be watching too. Our temps will be climbing to around 100 degrees (37 C) by Sunday.
