Weekly Mews and an Introduction

Hello everybody, Sissi Cat here to bring you the mews of the week (okay, it's actually two weeks since Mama was busy last weekend).

First I want to tell you about the weather. It is just purrfect. Not too hot and not cold, the kind of weather we kitties love. How do you like this day scene?

Mama has been busy with spay/neuter events and is still catching up with everyone. There were two events in one week and almost one hundred kitties were spayed/neutered. It was a lot of work but everyone was happy that so many cats could be helped.

Not only do the kitties get "fixed" but they also get vaccinations, flea treatment and microchips. The microchips will help them get back home if they are lost and taken to the shelter. All of the Kitty Krew has microchips but we are careful to stay close to home.

Before I introduce you to our new little friend I have a story for you. It is sad so you might want to have a box of Kleenex handy. Don't say I didn't warn you.

On Wednesday, September 19th, a very nice lady (nope, not our Mama) was driving home. The road is very busy with lots and lots of cars and trucks. When she got close to a state park that is near the road she saw something near the edge of the roadway. She slowed down (which a lot of people wouldn't do) and saw four kittens. She immediately pulled off the road and stopped. It was too late for two of the little kittens, they had already been hit by cars. She then tried to catch the two remaining kittens but one ran off into the bushes. She stayed for a while and tried to get it to come out but it never did. (The nice lady did go back and tried to find the other kitten but she never saw it again.)

By the way, we can't repeat what Mama said about any person who would dump defenseless kitten along side a busy highway. We can't repeat it because our Mama used HBO words (we have never heard our Mama use HBO words before).

The one kitten she did catch she decided to take to the Humane Society. It was so little and it looked like it hadn't eaten in awhile so she knew it needed attention. When she got to the shelter she brought the kitten into the room where my Mama and some other nice ladies were working on the event. They quickly got the kitten some food and water and put it in a carrier where it would feel safe.

You've probably guessed by now that our Mama brought the little one home to foster so she could give it attention. When it was brought to the shelter it weighed 13.6 ounces. It was dehydrated and hungry. By Saturday it weighed 1.18 pounds. It also showed signed of having a upper respiratory infection so Mama has been giving it medicine every day.

Now the little girl is feeling good and thriving. She loves to play with her toys and cuddle with Mama.
We think she is so cute. We will be fostering her until she is completely healthy and old enough to be adopted.

But Mama has a problem. She can't decide on a name for this pretty little girl. (The Humane Society lets foster parents name the kittens)

She wants your suggestions for names.

What would you name this pretty little girl?

Can't Take My Eyes Off You

Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare

The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak

But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that is real

You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you

You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much

A Pause for Paws

Hello friends! Spooky here.
The theme for this week at Miss Tina's PicStory is "Feet".
Feet includes paws, so we have lots of feet around here.
I was trying to take a nap when my brother Big Boy decided to turn around and get more comfortable. More comfortable for who? Those are his paws in my face. Brother, you need to clean your toes more often. Phew!

Mama has two spay/neuter events this week, one on Wednesday and the other on Saturday. There is also preparation before and after each event so Mama is going to be very busy. We would like to take over the blog but until we get a more cat-friendly keyboard (and we learn how to spell) we guess we still need Mama's help. We'll see all of you after the events.

Mews of the Week

Not much going on this past week. We kitties have been taking it easy and catching up on all of our naps. We are experts now after taking Miss Madi's Napping 101 class.

Sorry about the yawn mama, I didn't know you and that flashy beasty were there (as if you are never NOT there with that horrible flashy beast).

My brother Little Boy found a nice quiet spot to nap.

Miss Cindi found a great hideaway for her nap time. (Notice that mama found us no matter where we hid for our nap.)

And as you all know, Bandit takes her guard duties seriously. She is always on the lookout for squirrel intruders.

Those squirrels are EVERYWHERE!

That's all for this week but we will leave you with some words of wisdom.

As anyone who has ever been around a cat for any length of time well knows, cats have enormous patience with the limitations of the human mind.

Cruising With Critters

Little GTO, you're really lookin' fine
Three deuces and a four-speed and a 389

Listen to her tachin' up now, listen to her why-ee-eye-ine
C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out GTO
 John Wilkin, Little GTO

Would you have guessed I went to a car show this past weekend?
Well it is fall so it's time to jump in the cars and go cruising.

Do I have you in the mood? How about one more cruising song?

Fun, Fun, Fun was my theme song when I drove a car like the one below.
Mine was orange with a white vinyl roof but otherwise the same. I wish they had revved the engine.

What was your favorite crusing song?

September Mews

Hello everybody, Sissi Cat here to bring you the mews of the week. Wow, it's hard to believe it's September already. We kitties have really enjoyed this summer weather other than those few days it got way too hot. But that's okay since we have a nice cool patio to play on and stay out of the sun.

This first week of September we had lots of things to do. We helped mama clean out the garage the other day.

It was important for us to examine each thing she moved.

We checked out this big box very carefully. It had interesting smells and was fun to hide in. That's Spooky on the outside. He was making funny scratching noises trying to scare me while I was inside. It didn't work.

Suddenly we got the feeling we were being watched. It was very eerie to say the least.

But since Bandit was on patrol at that time she quickly found the intruder.

You can't sneak up on us kitties Mr. Squirrel. We always know when you are around.

That's all the mews for this week. I'm off to take a nap now so you will have to "talk to the paw".
