Top Cat

Remember our visitor from Wordless Wednesday?

Meet Ringo (the name our mama gave him because of the rings on his tail). Ringo is the neighborhood moocher. He makes his rounds everyday and stops by to see us sometimes for breakfast but always for dinner.

He is a very nice boy and never causes any problems. About a month ago he disappeared for a week. Mama thought something must have happened to him. Then one morning she looked out the front door and there was Ringo. He was wearing a collar and tags. "Aha" mama said to Ringo, "someone has given you a home and trying to turn you into a proper house cat." Ringo just stared at mama. A few days later Ringo was at the door but this time the collar and tags were gone.

We figure Ringo likes his freedom (we have a safe neighborhood with no through traffic). He reminds us of Top Cat.

We are joining Saturday Critters, Camera Critters and Bozo's Pet Pride.

I remember Top Cat! Well, do you think someone took him in, got him all fixed up, then gave up? They could have at least kept the collar on him!!

Hari Om
Darling Jasper MacCat went thru 5 collars in his 17 years with me. Even the one he kept longest, he managed to make so loose as to make him look like a vagabond... and he definitely didn't get all that extra weight from the meals at my place.

About two years before he died, a distant neighbour was passing one day and spotted him the garden with me.

"oh this is where he lives? Do you need help for food?"

Say what??!! Turned out he had been sharing meals with her cats since we had moved to that street and she thought he was not getting fed - the tag with the phone number was apparently no clue to her!!!

On the second collar I found Jasper deliberately snagging it on a favourite tree trunk - Silver or not, he was pure tabby and he did not particularly wish to be a kept man! .... I ADORE TC. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

What a cutie! Top cat.
Yes, we've given up on collars.
Yam is right. For wanderers, it just doesn't make sense.
I do adore our cats!

Collars are hard on cats who never wore them before. Hope he stays collar-less. He certainly doesn't look like he's starving. :-)

Maybe Ringo scratched off his collar? Perhaps the next time he shows up, he may have a new collar! ;)

I guess maybe Ringo just likes be his own man and do what he wants. As long as he is safe and healthy, I hope he is happy.

Sounds like Ringo has the best of all worlds... I'll bet he likes living in the great outdoors --and doesn't want to be closed inside of anyone's home... BUT--since he's a good boy, I'm sure you don't mind his visits.... Bet he gets a good breakfast and dinner at your house also!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy
